Building a Support Network

Sameer Khan moved to a new city for college, leaving behind his close-knit group of friends. ,The transition was tough—he felt isolated and missed having people to talk to. He joined a peer support group at his university and was surprised at how many students felt the same. Through weekly check-ins and bonding activities, he slowly made new friends. He also learned to open up and support others through their lows. These connections carried him through tough exams, homesickness, and even job rejection. Sameer eventually co-founded a “buddy network” on campus, matching seniors with new students. “Your network isn’t just professional,” he shares. “It’s emotional. And it’s everything.”
