Building Self-Confidence

Mithun Rao was painfully shy growing up. He avoided class presentations, rarely raised his hand, and dreaded speaking in groups. This held him back from opportunities, especially in college where communication was key. One semester, he challenged himself to join a drama club—not to act, but to help backstage. Gradually, he became more involved and eventually took on a small role in a skit. When he performed for the first time, the applause shattered years of doubt. Encouraged, Mithun enrolled in a public speaking workshop and began recording short monologues on Instagram. His confidence grew with every post and every piece of feedback. He even conducted his first webinar on presentation skills for juniors. Now, as a young marketing executive, he speaks to clients daily and even trains interns in communication. “Confidence isn’t about being loud,” he reflects. “It’s about believing your voice matters.”
