Finding a Mentor

Nikita Sharma felt lost during her first year of college. Everyone around her seemed so focused, while she struggled to even choose her electives. On a whim, she attended a tech workshop where she met a guest speaker—an alumna who now worked at Google. Impressed by her story, Nikita emailed her for advice. That one email turned into a mentorship journey. The alumna helped her pick courses, shared resources, and even prepped her for interviews. More importantly, she taught Nikita how to learn independently. Today, Nikita is interning at a top IT firm and has taken on a mentee of her own. “Mentorship gave me a map when I was wandering,” she says. “Now, I want to be that map for someone else.”
